Resumen de «Religion and Canadian Identity»: la sfida del niqab al giuramento di cittadinanza

Francesca Raimondo

  • The debate around religion and identity in the Canadian context has received extra fuel thanks to the Ishaq v. Canada decision. Reversing the ministerial ban on "niqab" during citizenship ceremonies, the decision sets the stage for a deeper reflection on the variable and often problematic relationship between religion and identity. Equally thought-provoking is the role of the setting in which the debate arises: the "citizenship oath", the official entrance of a new member into the «Canadian family».
