    La influència que el pintor Isidre Nonell (Barcelona, 1872-1911) hauria exercit sobre l’obra juvenil de Picasso és un assumpte molt poc tractat, o tractat de forma molt tangencial en el conjunt de la bibliografia picassiana. Sovint, s’ha subestimat o s’ha minimitzat l’impacte que el primer hauria pogut tenir en el pintor més extraordinari del segle XX. Potser perquè, en el cas de Picasso, estem davant d’un artista excepcional, autor d’una obra molt personal, única, i que no admet comparacions fàcils. Potser perquè la seva capacitat d’absorbir els estímuls externs i d’interpretar-los genialment no ajuda a identificar influències evidents en les seves obres. Potser perquè l’influx de Nonell cap a Picasso no té tant a veure amb l’estil, sinó amb afinitats temàtiques i conceptuals. El present article pretén ser una primera aproximació a aquesta qüestió i proposa una sèrie de comparacions i d’hipòtesis obertes al debat.

    The influence of the painter Isidre Nonell (Barcelona, 1872-1911) on Picasso’s early work is a topic that has not yet been explored in depth in the literature on Picasso. The impact of Nonell on the most extraordinary painter of the twentieth century has often been underestimated or overlooked, likely due to the fact that Picasso was an exceptional artist and author of a unique and very personal work that is beyond comparison. Indeed, Picasso’s ability to absorb and brilliantly interpret external stimuli makes it very difficult to detect the influences of other artists in his work. Nonell’s influence on Picasso’s work may have less to do with style, and rather with thematic and conceptual affinity. This article is a first approach to this subject and proposes a series of comparisons and assumptions, which are open to debate.
