Escarificación y germinación in vitro de semillas de heliconias

    Semillas de Heliconia bihai L., H. collinsiana Griggs, H. latispatha Bentham y H. psittacorum L. f. fueron escarificadas usando tres métodos: remoción de testa, remoción de opérculo y extracción del embrión para su posterior germinación in vitro. Los tres métodos de escarificación incrementaron el porcentaje de germinación en semillas de H. collinsiana y H. latispatha. El mayor porcentaje de germinación (90%) se observó en H. collinsiana cuando se extrajeron los embriones.

    Seeds of Heliconia bihai L., H. collinsiana Griggs, H. latispatha Bentham and H. psittacorum L. f. were scarified using three methods: seed coat removal, operculum removal, and extraction of the embryo to be germinated in vitro afterwards. The three scarification methods increased the germination percentage in H. collinsiana and H. latispatha seeds. The greatest germination percentage (90%) was observed in H. collinsiana after the embryos were extracted.
