    Durante la Edad Moderna el campo español sufrió el ataque de numerosas plagas de langosta. En este artículo se estudian las correspondientes al siglo XVIII prestando especial atención al avance del conocimiento que se tenía en la época de la morfología y comportamiento del insecto, se analiza la relación entre clima y aparición de las plagas así como las consecuencias dejadas por éstas y los medios empleados para combatirlas.

    During the Modern Age, the Spanish countryside suffered several attacks by plagues of locusts. This article examines those that ocurred in the 18th century, paying particular attention to the advances in the understanding of the morphology and behavior of this insect during that period. Also, it analyzes the relationship between climate and the incidence of such plagues, the consequences of their attacks, and the different means employed to combat them.

    Durant l'époque moderne le monde rural espagnol fut soumis à de nombreuses attaques de sauterelles. Dans cet article nous étudions celles en rapport avec le XVIIIe siècle, portant unte attetion particulière aux progrès de l'époque en matière de morphologie et de comportement des insectes. Nous analysons également la relation existant entre climat et apparition des fléaux ainsi que les conséquences laissées par ceux-ci, et les moyens utilisés pour les combattre.
