La pastorela de Fernández de Lizardi: el hallazgo de su primera edición y avatares bicentenarios

    El hallazgo que recientemente hemos hecho de su primera edición (1817), así como el de una segunda edición desconocida, seis años posterior (en realidad, una reimpresión), nos ha permitido trazar desde sus inicios la arquetípica historia de la Pastorela en dos actos, en su doble trayectoria editorial y teatral. Como muchos otros casos de un género a cual más popular, fue rebautizada a finales del siglo XIX con el título de La pastorela y fue quizá la más representada durante La noche más venturosa. Y así corrió a lo largo del siglo XX. Y de nuevo cambió de título y se volvió anónima en una población guanajuatense que la adoptó como propia. Así lo permitieron tanto su secular fondo ritual, como sus intenciones didácticas ilustradas.

    Our recent discovery of the first edition (1817), as well as an unknown second edition six years later (actually a reprint), has allowed us to trace, from the beginning, the archetypal story of the Pastorela en dos actos, as both an editorial and theatrical work. Like many other examples of this extremely popular genre, it was renamed in the late 19th century with the title of the most represented pastorela at that time (La noche más venturosa). And so it continued throughout the 20th century. Then it changed its title again and became anonymous within the Guanajuato population who adopted it as their own. This was possible due to the secular ritual background as well as the illustrated didactic intentions of this pastorela.
