As February came around, the industrial minerals industry saw a conclusion to the sale of Turkey's leading dead-burned magnesia (DBM) and refractories producer, Kutahya Manyezit Isletmeleri AS (Kumas).
Dalmond produces around 40,000 tpa of monolithic refractories using magnesia supplied from Magnezit's own operations.
Poor Chinese magnesia sales and a decline in H1 2012 exports led to a glut of unused H1 2012 export quotas earlier in the year. By May 2012 more than 65% of H1 export licences were still unfulfilled.
