  • Resumen
    • - Aluminium group UC Rusal agreed to acquire the remaining 50% of Russia's sole fluorspar producer, OOO Yaroslavsk GRK, from Russkaya Gornorudnaya Kompaniya (RGRK; Russian Ore Mining Co.). On completion of the deal, which remains subject to the approval of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Yaroslavsk GRK (also known as Yaroslavsk Mining Co.) will be wholly owned by Rusal.

      - UC Rusal announced plans to invest 100m rubles ($3.04m) into the modernisation of its fluorspar business Yaroslavsk GRK. Rusal said it would refurbish Yaroslavsk's existing equipment and operations, based at the Pogranichnoe and Vosnesenskoye fluorspar deposits located in Primorsky Krai (Maritime province), explaining "the depreciation of the Yaroslavsk GRK's major equipment fleet is over 70%".

In the first quarter of the year, UK-listed fluorspar producer and trader, Fluormin Plc, reported several "operational challenges" that affected production at its Witkop fluorspar mine in North Western province, South Africa, in the three months to 31 December 2011.
