Resumen de Argumentos seculares en favor de la preservación de la vida humana

El objetivo del presente trabajo es mostrar que el aborto es moralmente objetable sobre bases puramente seculares, esto se hace mediante dos estrategias: 1) se muestra que las principales tesis utilizadas comúnmente en la defensa del aborto son cuestionables y 2) se presentan argumentos seculares positivos que sostienen razonablemente el rechazo del aborto. Finalmente se concluye que, contrario a la opinión común, el problema central en el debate del aborto no es si el ser humano en el vientre es persona o no, sino si su valor es superior o no al valor que se pierde si no se aborta.

The aim of this paper is to show that abortion is morally objectionable on some purely secular basis, this is shown through two strategies: 1) showing that the major theses commonly used in the defense of abortion are questionable and 2) giving some positive secular arguments that reasonably support the rejection of abortion. Finally it is concluded that, contrary to common opinion, the central issue in the abortion debate is not whether the human being in the womb is a person or not, but whether its value is higher or not than the value that is lost if it is not aborted.
