  • Resumen
    • According to this study:

      * Insulin pump therapy reduces the risk of death from coronary heart disease or cardiovascular disease in patients with type 1 diabetes, compared with multiple daily injections of insulin.

      * The researchers saw a 45% reduction in fatal coronary heart disease, a 42% reduction in fatal cardiovascular disease, and a 27% reduction in the rate of death from any cause among those using insulin pump therapy.

      * The effect may be due to the insulin pump's ability to decrease the number of hypoglycemic incidents.
