Canada report Canadian firms haven't quite cracked gender equality at partnership level but they are far ahead of those in other countries, and are on track to improve even further In October 2015 Canada held a general election, with the Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau winning a landslide majority. The elections also created the most diverse parliament in the country's history, something Canadian law firms have also been striving for.
Within the new parliament 88 of the 338 seats are held by women, meaning 26 per cent of MPs are now female. Although this is still lower than the percentage of female MPs within the UK House of Commons, 29.4 per cent, there are now 12 more women in the Canadian Parliament than ever before.
