The number of lawyers at the Bank of England (BoE) has increased by around 670 per cent, rising from 13 individuals five years ago to between 90 and 100 today, it has emerged.
The post-crash growth was prompted by the 2013 creation of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), a subsidiary of the bank, which ensures the stability of insurance firms and protects policyholders -- formerly the domain of the now-defunct Financial Services Authority.
