Resumen de La vida social de los objetos recuperados

  Este artículo tiene como objetivo indagar en los objetos que se obtienen a lo largo de la tarea de recolección de los cartoneros en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Este oficio no consiste solamente en aquello que los vecinos les dan, o los porteros guardan, o juntan para los cartoneros, sino que se encuentra fuertemente vinculado a las características y tipo de objetos recolectados. Para comprender entonces qué implica esta tarea para quienes la realizan, este artículo contextualiza esos objetos, en tanto forman parte de las relaciones sociales que se despliegan a lo largo de la actividad. Este texto no se concentra en las formas del intercambio sino en las cosas que se intercambian. Y cómo esas cosas se transforman a lo largo del proceso de recolección que llevan adelante los cartoneros.

  The objective of this article is to investigate the objects recovered by trash pickers in the city of Buenos Aires. This work not only involves what they are given by residents, what doormen save for them, and what they manage to pick up, but is also closely tied to the characteristics and types of objects that are collected. In order to understand the significance of this job for the scavengers, this article contextualizes these objects as a part of the social relations which unfold around the activity. The present text does not focus on the types of exchanges but rather on the things that are exchanged and the way these objects are transformed throughout the collection process carried out by the trash pickers.
