La situación sociolingüística del catalán: evolución reciente

    El texto ofrece una información general sobre la entidad actual de la lengua catalana junto con una breve referencia histórica. Durante la transición post-franquista y el acceso de España a las Comunidades Europeas se confió en la posibilidad de un plurilingüismo igualitario, que refleja la Declaración Universal de Derechos Lingüísticos (Barcelona, 1996). Al inicio del siglo XXI esta aspiración se centra en el proyecto de Estatuto de Autonomía de 2005. Su rechazo con la Sentencia de 2010 del Tribunal Constitucional cuestiona la posibilidad de un estatus igualitario sin independencia política.

    The text provides an overview of the current reality of the Catalan language with a brief historical reference. During the post-Franco transition and Spain's accession to the European Communities it seemed possible to reach an egalitarian multilingualism, which reflects the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights (Barcelona, 1996). At the beginning of the XXI century this hope is focused on the draft Statute of Autonomy of 2005. Its rejection by a judgment of 2010 of the Constitutional Court questioned the possibility of an equal status without political independence.
