    En la actualidad se ha llegado a un punto de catarsis normativa y de apogeo sobre la sostenibilidad en la arquitectura que puede pensarse que es un modelo reciente y sin arraigo. Sin embargo, el camino recorrido por la construcción sostenible es de varios milenios .

    Existen una gran cantidad de conceptos que se repiten de forma permanente y que merecen un análisis detallado como se hace en este texto. Otros aparecen de forma espontánea para incorporarse y matizar lo existente, como aquellos que están relacionados con la aparición de nuevos materiales .En algunos casos se abren nuevas vías para la comprensión de la arquitectura que hoy pretenden seguir conformando el conglomerado diverso que compone la llamada arquitectura comprometida con el Medio ambiente.

    Se detallan aquí, hitos y acontecimientos relevantes que son puntos que jalonan este itinerario histórico y que nos llevan hasta el siglo XX.

    La arquitectura y la evolución tecnológica del hombre siempre ha tenido un estrecha relación; esto se contrasta en las antiguas civilizaciones, pasando por la revolución industrial hasta la fase actual que se encuentra muy marcada por la búsqueda de energías alternativas a las fuentes tradicionales. Entender la relación entre el hombre y la energía que necesita para subsistir y evolucionar es vital para comprender el modelo actual.

    Today it has reached a point of catharsis and height regulations on sustainability in architecture that can be thought to be a recent model and rootless.
