Resumen de Turismo regional e vantagem competitiva: Análise do turismo na região metropolitana da Baixada Santista

The study is based on the theory of "Porter's Diamond" and its connection with models of local productive arrangements, Clusters and Innovation environments. It accomplished a bibliographic research on the Porter ́s diamond, confronting it with the current state of tourism in the metropolitan area of Baixada Santista (Brazil), in São Paulo, Brazil. The study reveals the degree of competitive advantage in this region, as a tourist destination, in the face of competition from other locations, as well as the degree of maturity of the competencies of those involved. Through a case study also reveals the current model of articulation of the tourist trade and the importance of the role of the Government in the performance of this industry in the region

O estudo apoia-se na teoria do “Diamante de Porter” e sua ligação com modelos de Arranjos Produtivos Locais, Clusters e Ambientes de Inovação. Usou-se o Diamante para conhecer com o estado atual do turismo da Região Metropolitana da Baixada Santista (RMBS), em São Paulo, Brasil. Explora-se o grau da vantagem competitiva dessa região enquanto destino turístico perante a concorrência de outras localidades, bem como o grau de maturidade das competências dos envolvidos. Por meio de um estudo de caso também se revelou o modelo atual de articulação do trade turístico e a importância do papel do governo no desempenho desse setor na região.
