We introduce a hoard of silver coins formed by Hispano-Carthaginian dishekels and shekels that were probably found in the province of Badajoz. All the pieces were pierced in the time they were used and seem to have been hidden intentionally by a soldier of the Carthaginian army. As the archaeological context in which this set was found is not fully known, Badajoz will be assumed as the site of the fi nding, but the historical background seems clear: the occupation of the central area of the Iberian Peninsula by Hannibal troops. Some chronological, iconographical and stylistic explanations will also be given about these coins.
