    Amy Tan, figura representativa de la literatura chinoamericana, consiguió un éxito sin precedentes tanto de crítica como en el mercado con su primera novela The Joy Luck Club. Esta autora logró que las editoriales del mundo occidental volvieran a depositar su atención en la literatura chinoamericana, una rama importante de las literaturas étnicas e híbridas. En este artículo realizaremos un análisis comparativo y descriptivo de las dos versiones castellanas de The Joy Luck Club con el fin de reflexionar sobre cómo traducir el multiculturalismo, el tercer código y la hibridación lingüística y cultural por las que se caracterizan las obras postcoloniales, que en sí mismas ya constituyen una traducción cultural; en concreto, exploraremos si la extranjerización o la familiarización resultan suficientemente eficaces a la hora de traducir estos textos postcoloniales.

    Amy Tan, a representative figure of Chinese American literature, achieved remarkable success with her first novel The Joy Luck Club both among literary critics and in the market. She succeeded in reawakening the Western interest on the Chinese American literature, which is an important branch of hybrid literatures. In this article, we will make a comparative and descriptive analysis of the two published Spanish versions of The Joy Luck Club in order to reflect on how to translate the multiculturalism, the third code,the linguistic and cultural hybridization that characterize those postcolonial works already constituting a cultural translation themselves and in order to explore whether domestication or foreignization is efficient enough when translating these postcolonial texts.
