Resumen de Prelude, tumult, aftermath: : A subscription agent perspective on the swets b.V. Bankruptcy
In September 2014, Swets Information Services BV filed for, and was granted, Bankruptcy. This initiated a series of complicated reactions within the scholarly communications environment, particularly among libraries and subscription vendors. This article retraces the adjustments and adaptations to date made by subscription agency Otto Harrassowitz GmbH KG (HARRASSOWITZ) in response to the sometimes tumultuous dynamics of the newer landscape. Events such as the Swets bankruptcy provide an opportunity to evaluate the environment in which the library–vendor–publisher relationships are developed and maintained. An open dialogue among all partners is important to promote understanding, value, support, and mutual benefit.
