    Las dos grandes teorías del grotesco (Kayser y Bajtín) sirven para explicar el  mundo terrorífico, absurdo, fantástico, pero también cómico, bufonesco y carnavalesco que aparece en una novela fundamental: El Maestro y Margarita. Si Gargantúa y Pantagruel se considera la culminación literaria de la tradición de la risa cómica y popular hasta el siglo XVI, El Maestro y Margarita sería la culminación de todos los grotescos literarios hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX.

    With the two great theories of grotesque (Kayser and Bajtin) it is possible to explain the terrifying, absurd and phantastic but also comical, full of buffoonery and carnivalesque world which appears in a very important novel: The Master and Margarita. If Gargantua and Pantagruel can be considered the literary summit of the folk tradition of laughter until the XVIth century, The Master and Margarita would be the summit of all literary grotesques until the first half of the XXth century.
