    Los cimientos de la investigación sobre el arte estadounidense.

    Las becas y subvenciones otorgadas por tres fundaciones distintas a la investigación sobre el arte de los Estados Unidos representan cada año un sostén de entre quince y veinte millones de dólares. Esa financiación privada ha contribuido en gran medida a la evolución y maduración de la disciplina. Los tres organismos que reparten el dinero -principalmente Luce, Terra y Wyeth Foundations- difieren mucho entre sí por sus fundadores, prioridades, dimensiones, organización administrativa e impacto.

    ¿Cuáles son las repercusiones de dichas inversiones privadas masivas en el ámbito de la historia del arte en los Estados Unidos? ¿Se habrán convertido las prioridades de esas fundaciones en las prioridades de la misma disciplina?

    Foundations of American art scholarship.

    Grants and fellowship from three different foundations amounting annually to $15-$20 million support scholarship on the art of the United States. To a large extent this private funding has subsidized the growth and maturation of the field. The three organizations providing this money - principally Luce, Terra and Wyeth Foundations- are strikingly different in terms of their founders, priorities, sizes, programs, administrative organozations, and effects.

    What are the ramifications of this abundance of private funding in the field of US art history? Have the priorities of the foundations become the priorities of the field?
