En este artículo, veremos que las acciones de Al-Qaeda pueden ser estudiadas a través de un vínculo realista con el sistema internacional dominado por los Estados. Sostendremos que este actor no estatal intenta promover o acelerar cambios en la estructura de poder, donde sobresale la hegemonía norteamericana y la búsqueda del equilibrio por parte de diversos actores que implementan estrategias asimétricas como respuestas contra-hegemónicas.

In this article we will see that the actions of Al-Qaeda can be studied using a realistic link with the international system dominated by states. We will hold that these actors try to promote or to accelerate the changes in the structure of power, where there stands out the American hegemony and the search for balance by various actors that implement asymmetric strategies as counter-hegemonic responses.
