    En el ámbito del grabado, los materiales surgidos de la industria han supuesto un avance tecnológico destacable para la necesidad del artista por experimentar y buscar nuevas formas de expresión. Dentro de la amplia gama de productos disponibles, los plásticos ofrecen una alternativa muy interesante respecto a los materiales tradicionales. El campo de experimentación puede ser inabarcable; aquí se muestra parte de un trabajo de investigación de la autora sobre materiales alternativos para el grabado. Teniendo en cuenta que para realizar este estudio es importante conocer el material en profundidad, sus características, propiedades, identificación e incluso una perspectiva histórica que ponga de manifiesto la procedencia de los mismos, son estos los apartados previos que se han considerado en este estudio. Se ha constatado que en el grabado y, más concretamente, en la técnica de relieve, este tipo de soporte matriz permite facilitar el proceso y, al mismo tiempo, obtener una mayor diversificación y amplitud del lenguaje gráfico.

    In the area of engravings, materials emerging from the industry have resulted in remarkable technological advances for the artist’s need to experiment and search for new forms of expression. Among the wide range of products available, sculptural materials provide a very interesting alternative with respect to traditional ones. The field of experimentation may be vast – here part of the author’s research project about alternative materials for engravings is shown. One must bear in mind that in order to carry out this study it is important to be intimately acquainted with the characteristics, properties and identification of the material –even a historical perspective– which reveal the origins of these elements. These are the initial sections under consideration in this study. It has been confirmed that in engravings, and more specifically in the technique of carving, this type of mould support facilitates the process whilst at the same time allowing for greater diversification and breadth of graphic language.
