Los sastres, al igual que otros profesionales artesanos, desde bien antiguo se agrupaban de forma gremial en defensa de sus intereses.
Entre las diversas particularidades, contaban con un sistema de regularización de acceso a esta profesión. Se reglamentaba igualmente el trabajo de dichos artesanos. En el aspecto social, se establecía una función orientada al socorro de los asociados en casos de enfermedad, ayuda a las viudas y huérfanos, con fondos propios.
El interés de este tema es haber localizado las ordenanzas completas de un gremio, en concreto el de sastre, que poco debía diferir de otros gremios similares. Nos encontramos por tanto ante un documento inédito que nos orienta sobre este contenido.

He tailors, in common with other professional artisans, establisher well in the long past their own craft guild to protect their common interests.
Among the various peculiarities they included a system to regulate the access to the profession as well as rules and regulations for the exercise of their professional activities. In the social sphere, proceedings were established to help the guild members in cases of illness and for the provision of assistance to widows and orphans, financed from their own funds.
The interest of the present work emanates from the finding of the complete set of ordinances of a Guild, in this concrete case the Tailors Guild, which would hardly differ from other similar Guilds at the time. We present, therefore, a unique document which gives an insight into the content of these ordinances.
