Resumen de L'Ètica periodística en el context postsoviètic: el cas de la televisió a Rússia

Frederic Guerrero-Solé

  • Media ethics in the post-Soviet context: the case of Russian television The dissolution of the Soviet Union, the fall of the Soviet ideological system, the entrance of the Soviet Union to all economic sectors of the free market and the introduction of democratic parties all had effects on the ethical behaviour of journalists, particularly those in television. This paper analyses these effects and takes into account Russian and Western approaches to the evolution of mass media and the profession of journalism in the post-Soviet period. Based on the four fundamental principles of media ethics (Alsius, 1999) — truth, freedom, justice and responsibility — this paper analyses how these principles have been observed since the fall of the USSR, it identifies the codes and agreements between the various communication media over this period and it outlines the media events that have had most impact on the debate concerning ethical behaviour in the communication media in Russia.
