The objective of this study was to analyze the dynamics of formation from different structures and volumes of capital belonging to Maranhão women in politics, through the collection of information about both social and origins concerning the political careers of federal deputies/state elected officially in Maranhão from 1982 to 2010. It was aimed to identify social variaties that allowed me to understand what resources accumulated by these women through the process of policy expertise, as the work was developed in the quest for political recognition of the voters. It also seeks to highlight through the accounts of each congresswoman what their representations of “politics” are all about.

O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar a dinâmica de constituição das diferentes estruturas e volumes de capitais das mulheres maranhenses na política, por meio do levantamento de informações sobre as origens sociais e carreiras políticas das deputadas federais/estaduais eleitas no Maranhão entre 1982 a 2010. Busquei identificar variáveis sociais que me permitissem perceber quais os recursos acumulados por essas mulheres ao longo do processo de especialização política, como foi desenvolvido o trabalho político na busca pelo reconhecimento dos eleitores. Procurei ainda destacar por meio dos relatos das deputadas quais são suas representações sobre fazer “política”.
