Eric Kondratieff

  • The following essay uses numismatic, epigraphic, and topographic evidence to reconstruct the cursus honorum of L. Scribonius Libo, an important but enigmatic adherent of Pompeius Magnus and advisor to Sextus Pompeius. It aims to contextualize and elucidate aspects of his early career in the historical milieu of the 60s - 50s b. c. e., including: his moneyership and the ideology of his coins as they relate to the financial crisis of 63-62; the year(s) and location of his quaestorship; a possible aedileship; and the year and provincia of his praetorship
