En torno a la dictadura franquista

    P/P en su biografía de Franco no plantean la cuestión de la dictadura y cuando se refieren a su régimen político lo denominan “dictadura personal” o “régimen autoritario”. En este artículo se intenta desvelar las razones de dicha actitud, a la vez que se remite al debate sobre la naturaleza del régimen, que se llevó a cabo en las dos últimas décadas del pasado siglo. Pero estas cuestiones no están entre los intereses ideológicos e historiográficos de P/P porque no hallan sentido a tratar del componente fascista de la dictadura ya que, a su juicio, el proceso de desfascistización comenzó pocos meses después de que se implantara. Sin embargo, en la dictadura, después de una fase de clara tendencia fascista, siguieron otras en las que se mantuvieron numerosos vestigios de la citada tendencia.

    In their Franco biography Payne and Palacios do not address the issue of the nature of the dictatorship. When they refer to Franco´s political regime they call it a "personal dictatorship" or an"authoritarian regime". In this article an attempt is made to examine the reasons for such an approach. Reference is made to the debate on the nature of the Franco regime which raged in the last two decades of the past century. Admittedly these issues do not rank highly amongst the ideological and historiographic interests of the two biographers because they do not see any point in examining the fascist component of the Franco dictatorship. In their view the process of defascistization started within a few months of the regime being set up. However, after a phase of clear fascist leanings other phases followed in which numerous remnants of those fascist tendencies subsisted.
