  • The article discusses the U.S.'s relations with the Middle East, with a particular focus on the U.S.'s alleged lack of involvement and assertion of military power in the region. The authors contend that the U.S. is not deviating from its historic policy towards the Middle East from 1948 through the early 21st century, including in regard to its lack of interventionist policy under U.S. President Barack Obama. An overview of U.S. alliances in the Middle East, including with Israel and Saudi Arabia, is provided. The 2015 Nuclear deal with Iran is discussed. An overview of the foreign participation in the Syrian Civil War, including Russian support of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, is also discussed, is also provided
