  Los fondos de Antonio Maura, guardados en la fundación de su nombre, son reflejo de la actuación realizada por el estadista en su vida pública por lo que se centran en su tarea de gobernante y de jurista. Este artículo recoge la descripción de los fondos americanistas que hay en tres de las secciones del fondo documental de Maura, que son: la sección jurídica; la de presidencia del Consejo de Ministros y, sobre todo, la de Ultramar, donde se custodia el testimonio documental de un intento, amparado por el gobernante, que creaba los cauces para que la independencia de Cuba, Puerto Rico y Filipinas no se hubiera resulto en terreno internacional.
