Estudio empírico: Prácticas de ocio y consumo de drogas entre jóvenes de Pontevedra

    Disponer de tiempo de ocio es uno de los aspectos claves en la definición de calidad de vida, tanto para la población adulta como para la población más joven, con bastante más impacto en estos últimos. Este artículo comienza con un acercamiento teórico a los términos de ocio, tiempo libre, ocio nocturno y botellón, y posteriormente realiza un abordaje triple, pero integrado, desde la perspectiva histórica, biográfica y estructural. En la parte empírica, a través de una encuesta a 1.170 estudiantes de Pontevedra, con edades comprendidas entre 14 y 17 años, se han podido describir sus prácticas de ocio y consumo, comprobar qué variables determinan este tipo de prácticas y elaborar un modelo explicativo de la participación en el fenómeno del botellón.

    To have leisure time is a key element in the definition of "quality of life" for both adults and young people, with considerably more impact in the latter. This article begins with a theoretical introduction to the terms leisure, free time, nightlife and "botellón" (a recent phenomenon [in Spain] in which young people gather outdoors, in public areas, for binge drinking). It continues a threefold, yet integrated, look at the at night subject, from the historical, biographical and structural perspectives. The empirical section presents the results of a survey done in Pontevedra of 1170 students aged 14 to 17. This section describes their leisure and consumption habits, discusses the variables that are determining factors in this type of activity and offers an explanatory model about participation in the botellón phenonemon.
