los tratados de Heráldica determinan de forma precisa el sistema de brisuras. con ellas se trata en ocasiones de introducir una modificación en las armas familiares, de modo que conservando el recuerdo del origen común, una nueva rama es dotada de su símbolo particular.
Pero dichas pautas fueron escasamente seguidas en España. Por ello, resulta inte- resante determinar cómo se producía, de hecho, esa diferenciación. El blasón con los tres lobos, propio inicialmente de la familia Esparza, resulta un buen caso práctico. Es un linaje muy numeroso y de cuyas armas existen diversas variantes, generadas desde el siglo XIv hasta el XX.
su estudio permite además identificar algunas otras cuestiones de interés, propias de la heráldica gentilicia.

Heraldry treaties establish the cadency system in a precise manner. this system tries to introduce a modification in family coats of arms so that the memory of the common origin is preserved while a new branch of the family is provided with its own particular symbol.
However these instructions were scarcely followed in spain. therefore it is inter- esting to establish how this differentiation was carried out. the blazon with the three wolves, which initially belonged to the Esparza family, is a good practical example.
Their lineage is very numerous and their coats of arms have different versions that have been generated from the 15th until the 20th century.
Their study will also allow us to identify other interesting issues that belong to heraldry related to lineage.
