    La cirugía torácica ha evolucionado mucho en los últimos años, de manera que muchos procedimientos se han empezado a realizar a través de videotoracoscopia, usando una pequeña incisión, en primer lugar con la ayuda de un puerto adicional e incluso dos, pero que hoy en día se realiza a través de una única incisión por la que se introduce la cámara y resto de instrumentos.

    La cirugía video asistida uniportal es una vía de abordaje mínimamente invasiva,que permite realizar resecciones pulmonares, ya sea lobectomías, segmentectomías, resecciones atípicas y bullectomías mediante una única incisión de tres a cinco centímetros, en el quinto espacio intercostal, en la línea media entre la punta de escápula y el pliegue mamario, sin separación costal.

    El procedimiento se realiza endoscópicamente utilizando una óptica de 30 grados,una cámara ,un cable de luz fría y una torre de cirugía endoscópica.

    Con el acceso “single port”, se accede directamente a la zona a operar, y se necesita una coordinación entre el cirujano y ayudante, el cual maneja la cámara.

    La utilización de una óptica de 30 grados, permite una visión panorámica de la zona y el movimiento de ésta a través de la incisión, creará diferentes ángulos. Así mismo los movimientos de rotación de la óptica ayudarán a aumentar el campo de visión.

    Thoracic surgery has developed very quickly over the last few years,therefore a lot of procedures are being achieved thorough video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) using a single incision,initially done with the aid of one or even two additional ports, but which nowadays is being achieved with one single port through which all instruments and the thoracoscope can be inserted.

    VATS is minimally-invasive surgery that allows lobectomies,lung segmentectomies,atypical lung resections and bullectomies with a single incision that measures approximatelly three to five centimetres, in the fifth intercostal space, midway between the nipple and the tip of the scapula, with no rib spreading.

    The procedure is made endoscopically using a thirty degrees thoracoscope, one camera, a fibre optic cable and an endoscopic tower.With this single access port we can get right to the operating area.Coordination between surgeon one and two is needed, the second surgeon being the one who moves the thoracoscope through the incision.

    The use of the thirty degrees thoracoscope allows a panoramic view of the area and the movements of it through the incision create different perspectives.Rotation movements of the thoracoscope help to improve the view.
