FOLLOWING an in-depth review, the Dairy Cow Welfare Strategy has been revised to introduce new priorities focusing on calf and heifer rearing and cow comfort.
The first Dairy Cow Welfare Strategy was launched by the Cattle Health and Welfare Group (CHAWG) in 2010 and, since then, annual reports have been published, highlighting progress made by the industry in the agreed priority areas. The group says that the changes made to the strategy following the latest review are intended to support the process of continuous improvement adopted by the industry.
