David Bee

  • IN tribute to David John Bee (VR, July 18, 2015, vol 177 p 78), Jonathan Harwood, John Moffitt and Chris Watson write: David Bee was a skilled, energetic and much-respected practitioner from Petersfield in Hampshire who touched the lives of many through his twin careers in veterinary practice and as a reader in the Church of England.

    He was born and raised in Lancashire. His father, Benny Bee, was a reputed poultry veterinary surgeon and David qualified from Cambridge veterinary school in 1975. His first job was back in home territory, in Broughton-in-Furness in Cumbria, but in 1978 he moved to Petersfield in Hampshire to Teale and Partners, principally as a farm vet.

    Music and singing were always a passion of his and stories of his bass voice reverberating around barns as he worked spread almost as fast as his reputation as a skilled veterinary surgeon with a quick mind and a clear ability to communicate. …
