  • Resumen
    • SCOTLAND's Rural College (SRUC) is inviting views on its proposals for changes to the network of veterinary disease surveillance centres (DSCs) that it runs in Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government. It believes that the changes it is proposing will provide ‘a uniquely Scottish solution to the problem of tighter budgets and increased disease threat’.

The proposals have been drawn up by SRUC following the Kinnaird review of veterinary surveillance in Scotland, which was published in 2011 (VR, November 19, 2011, vol 169, pp 539-540). SRUC has also consulted the Strategic Management Board which was formed to provide oversight and advice on surveillance following the Kinnaird review. It says that its proposed developments are intended to ensure that it maintains an efficient, sustainable and robust disease surveillance service for Scotland and the UK. It has already begun to consult stakeholders on ‘what could be significant changes to service delivery at the Inverness and Ayr DSCs’.....
