    • I AM writing to raise awareness of a collaborative research initiative to better understand the optimal approach to diagnosis and treatment of lungworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) in dogs. The initial step of this project is an online survey for veterinary practitioners, investigating current attitudes towards and experience of treating lungworm.

      Although licensed products for prevention and treatment are available in the UK, there is currently no consensus among veterinary practitioners as to which medication or combinations of medications should be used to treat dogs with clinical signs of lungworm infection. Anecdotal reports of adverse reactions after treatment exist but none is currently published in the literature. Even the frequency with which natural infection is diagnosed in dogs is poorly described outside the UK and Germany....
