  • THE Arlagården quality assurance programme, operated by Arla Foods, was introduced in Denmark and Sweden in 2003 and latterly in Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg in 2014. From October 1, 2015, the scheme is to be introduced in the UK, alongside the current Red Tractor scheme.

    Arla has been working closely with a number of vets and a reference group of Arla farm owners to ensure that the Arlagården standards can be implemented effectively in the UK, and that the transition for its 3200 supplying dairy farmers is as straightforward as possible.

    The purpose of this letter is to make vets aware of the key requirements of the scheme so that they can work in consultation with their Arla farmers to meet the standards. Arla is keen to continue to work closely with vets and will provide further supporting information in the coming months before these standards form part of an Arla farmer's assessment from October 2015.
