Resumen de Welfare at slaughter: BVA urges its members to lobby their MPs before non-stun slaughter debate

  • HAVING recently secured 100,000 signatures to its Government e-petition calling for an end to non-stun slaughter on animal welfare grounds, the BVA is now asking its members to e-mail or call their MP to ask them to attend a parliamentary debate on the issue on February 23.

The debate is to be held in Westminster Hall, a secondary debating chamber for the House of Commons, at 16.30 on Monday, February 23. It will be led by Philip Hollobone, the Conservative MP for Kettering. Any MP will be welcome to make interventions, ask questions and speak in the debate. No vote will be held, but a Defra minister will be present to respond on behalf of the Government.
