En América Latina los estudios sobre la paternidad en la adolescencia son apenas delineados si se compara con la maternidad en las mismas franjas etarias.
Existe una construcción simbólica en torno a la figura del padre adolescente como “ausente” pero diversos estudios indican que existen diversas actitudes ante la paternidad que recientemente merecen objeto de indagación. Por tratarse de un tema relativamente nuevo en la literatura regional, se intenta en estas notas ofrecer un panorama de la bibliografía consultada en la primera fase de la investigación homónima, desarrollada en el marco del Departamento de Trabajo Social y del Centro Interdisciplinario Infancia y Pobreza de la Universidad de la República – Uruguay. Se trata de ofrecer una amplia mirada sobre la temática a nivel nacional y regional.

In Latin America, studies on teenage fatherhood are just delineated compared with motherhood in the same age groups.
There is a symbolic construction around the figure of the teen parent as "absent" but several studies suggest that there are different attitudes to parenting that deserve serious scrutiny recently. Being a relatively new topic in the regional literature is attempted in these notes provide an overview of the literature consulted in the first phase of the homonymous research, developed under the Department of Social Work and the Interdisciplinary Center for Children and Poverty of the University of the Republic - Uruguay. This is to offer a broad view of the subject at national and regional level.
