    En este articulo se propone rendir homenaje ala labor de Andres Bello, politico y diplomatico destacadode la Independencia hispanoamericana y, al mismo tiempo,autor de diversas obras literarias, filologicas y gramaticales.Mediante el repaso de sus obras filologicas masimportantes se demostrara que en la labor de esteverdadero humanista polifacetico el estudio de la lenguaocupaba lugar tan importante que merece ser consideradoel primer investigador de este campo en laHispanoamerica independiente. Aunque su actividadlinguistica esta sometida a un ideal politico, gracias a susistematicidad y sus reconocimientos acertados estaejerciendo una influencia fuerte incluso en la linguisticamoderna.

    This article is proposed to give homage tothe work of Andres Bello, a prominent politician anddiplomat of the case of the Latin AmericanIndependence and at the same time author of severalliterary, philological and grammatical works. Throughthe review of his most important philological works itbecomes apparent that in the work of this real multifacetedhumanist, the study of the language occupiedsuch an important place that he can be considered thefirst researcher of this field in the independent LatinAmerica.Even though his linguistic activity is submitted to apolitical ideal, thanks to its systematicity and intuition, ithas had a strong influence even on modern linguistics.
