  Tres años antes de la publicación de L'Erotisme de Georges Bataille (1957), el pensador bogotano Nicolás Gómez Dávila, a instancias de su hermano, publico la primera de sus obras con el sucinto y modesto título de Notas (1954). Dos tradiciones filosóficas diversas se encuentran en el estudio de un mismo tópico, mostrando que la carne, la piel, la sensualidad, el placer y otros temas afines se conectan con todas las dimensiones de la vida humana y que nadie que reflexione seria y honestamente al respecto, puede relegarlos o esconderlos tras el biombo del tabú. Más que un trabajo de erudición, será este el pretexto para reconocer el inmenso aporte de ambos a la historia de las ideas sobre el problema del erotismo.

  three years before the publication of L'Erotisme of George Bataille (1957), the bogotanian thinker Nicolas Gomez Davila, at instances of his brother, published his first work with the succinct and modest title of Notes (1954). Two different philosophical traditions meet in the study of the same topic, showing that flesh, skin, sensuality, pleasure and other related themes connect each other with all dimensions of human life, and that no one reflect, in an honest and serious way about it, may relegate them or hide them behind the folding screen of taboo. More than an erudition work, this will be the pretext to recognize the great input of them both to the history of the ideas about the problem of eroticism.
