• CASES of bluetongue continue to be reported in central France, with a further 12 outbreaks reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) between September 28 and October 2. By October 2, a total of 45 outbreaks had been reported since initial confirmation of the disease on September 11. The causative agent has been identified as serotype 8 of the bluetongue virus.
