Resumen de The Role of Automated Instrumentation in Undergraduate Chemistry

  • Automated instruments are ubiquitous in government, research, and industrial laboratories. However, undergraduates are rarely afforded the opportunity to work with such systems. Arguments against the use of complex automated systems in undergraduate curricula have focused on high maintenance costs and the danger of "black box syndrome". However, these problems can be successfully addressed. Given the crucial role automated instruments play in the workplace, it is incumbent on educators to incorporate them into the curriculum where feasible.
