  • Resumen
    • The distribution equilibrium constant of iodine between water and the water-insoluble organic solvent octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane was determined by a titrimetric method. Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane is an alternative to the more commonly used carbon tetrachloride, which is suspected of causing cancer. The stability equilibrium constants for the iodine-chloride (I2Cl-) and iodine bromide (I2Br-) complex trihalide ions was also estimated from a linear least-squares graphical plot.
