Difusión de la investigación científica iberoamericana en turismo

    Iberoamérica desempeña un papel clave en el panorama turístico mundial, sin embargo, existe una carencia de análisis sobre las investigaciones que los académicos e instituciones de estos países realizan sobre turismo. Este trabajo trata de cubrir este vacío analizando la contribución realizada, y su evolución, por aquellos investigadores afiliados a instituciones iberoamericanas en revistas académicas especializadas en turismo durante los últimos seis años (período 2006-2011). El análisis permite identificar aquellos países iberoamericanos, instituciones y autores que han realizado un mayor esfuerzo de investigación y difusión en turismo en este período. El artículo también analiza las revistas o publicaciones específicas en las que los autores iberoamericanos publican más activamente sus trabajos, el número de coautores medio por artículo, el número de citas recibidas e incluso el ámbito geográfico de la aplicación de las investigaciones. Finalmente, el trabajo destaca las implicaciones del estudio y establece una serie de recomendaciones para la mejora de la investigación en turismo en Iberoamérica.

    Scientific Dissemination of Tourism Research in Latin America. Tourism is a key industry in Iberoamerica, representing this region an important role in the international market. Thus, there is a need to analyze the tourism research developed by authors and institutions of this region. This paper analyzes the contribution in tourism academic journals of those researchers from Iberoamerican institutions, considering the dynamic evolution in the period 2006-2011. The paper allows for identifying those countries, institutions and researchers that has shown a higher performance in researching and publishing their studies in tourism. The paper shows a ranking of institutions and authors, but also the geographic application of the studies, number of co-authors, journals where they publish, citations of their papers, etc. Finally, the paper highlights some conclusions and recommendations about the current situation of tourism research in Iberoamerica.
