  • Resumen
    • This work aims to conduct a study on the effects of immediate re-election of provincial governors in Argentina. It is intended to find significant effects of this mechanism on subnational political systems. The main hypothesis is that this mode of election generates effects on the competition levels of the party system, on the permanency of the governing party, and so on. This research attempts to deepen the discussion (present in a vast literature) on the effects of electoral rules on political systems and in particular on the immediate re-election, now adopted by some Latin American countries at the presidential level. The ultimate goal of this paper is not to rule in favour, or against of immediate re-election, but to attempt to observe some significant effects that can enhance the level of discussion about it.
