Etnicidad y nacionalismo en el Museo Nacional de Antropología de México: lecturas desde su espacio físico y virtual

    La negociación entre las identidades étnicas y la nacional es constante en México. Esta negociación no se restringe al Museo Nacional de Antropología (MNAM). Sin embargo, allí se manifiesta de manera muy intensa. Con este trabajo pretendemos hacer una interpretación del MNAM, con dos lecturas, una primera desde su espacio físico y otra desde su sitio web. Nos apoyaremos, para ello, en los textos presentes en la mencionada institución, distribuidos, en sus salas. Así como en los objetos expuestos en ellas y en los escritos de académicos e intelectuales. Proponemos que el MNAM contribuye a definir el papel de los indígenas en México. Esta institución, como espacio de investigación, hace que surjan preguntas acerca de las identidades y su negociación: sobre museos en general y antropológicos en particular; sobre cómo exponer otras culturas (cómo hablar de "otros"); cómo mostrar la nación (cómo hablar de "nosotros"). Este trabajo indagará en la construcción del otro a través de un museo, en relación con el nacionalismo que proyecta el Estado mexicano, creador y financiador del MNAM.

    Negotiation between the national and ethnic identities is constant in Mexico. This negotiation is not restricted to the National Museum of Anthropology (MNAM). However, there manifests itself in a very intense way. With this paper we intend to make an interpretation of the MNAM, with a reading from your physical space and its web site. In order to do this, we will build on the texts from the mentioned institution, its halls and exhibits in them, as well as in writings of academics and intellectuals. We propose that the MNAM contributes to define the role of indigenous people in Mexico. This institution, as a space for research, raises questions about identities and their negotiation: on museums in general and anthropological in particular; about how to expose other cultures (how to talk about "others"); How to show the nation (how to talk about "us"). This work will ask about the construction of the other through a Museum, in relation to the nationalism which project Mexico, as the State, creator and sponsor of the MNAM.
