In the frame of Aldous Huxleys famous novel Brave New World, I focus on the question about freedom or happiness related to psychotropic drugs. What role plays the freedom of human beings in our biotechnologized society? Which moral implications has the triumph of therapeutic techniques? I put into question some of the presuppositions of the psychotropic model of disease. Finally, I propose a philosophical view about the problems of life such as depression without giving up our human responsibility, but considering our own authorship in life.
