    • From "Quattrocentism" to modernity Napoleone Martuzzi's sculpture and its sources.

      The essay examines Napoleone Martinuzzi's sculptural production intending to offer an outline of the cultural references he took inspiration from as for that aspect of his work, assuredly significant in number, quality and variety of the solutions adopted.

      The author focuses on works displayed at the most important exhibitions and those pertainig to the main realizations in the field of monumental sculpture, which overall represent a sequence ranging from Symbolism in the early years through "Neoquattrocentism" in the 1920s to a refine modernist eccleticism in the last phase of Martinuzzi's career. The display of the two solo rooms installed respectively at the 14th Bevilacqua La Masa exhibition in 1923 and at the 1942 Venice Biennale can be considered the two terms of this analysis.
