    Tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (TKI) are a recent class of anticancer drug, with two agents approved in veterinary medicine, masitinib and toceranib, for the treatment of some mast cell tumours in dogs. Various publications report in vivo efficay of these molecules in the treatment of other cancers. Any off-label use of TKI products, that is outwith the marketing authorisation (MA), must be well-argued, for an individual, and in respect of the therapeutic cascade principle, so that TKI are used outwith the MA only after proposed conventional treatments. An evaluation of clinical and biological parametrs of the animal is necessary in order to limit the risk of side-effects. Accurate information from owners is essential.

    Les inhibiteurs des tyrosine-kinases (ITK) sont une classe récente de médicament anticancéreux avec deux spécialités homologuées en médecine vétérinaire dans le traitement de certains mastocytomes chez le chien: le masitinib et le tocéranib. Plusiers publications rapportent une efficacité in vivo de ces molécules dans le traitement d'autres cancers. L'utilisation hors autorisation de mise sur le marché (AMM) des ITK doit faire l'objet d'une approche raisonnée et individualisée visant à respecter le principe de la cascade thérapeutique et à ne les administrer qu'après avoir proposé les traitements conventionnels. Une évaluation des paramètres cliniques et biologiques de l'animal est requise afin de limiter le risque d'effets secondaires. L'information précise des propriétaires est indispensable.
